Colin Buchanan & Greg Champion

Bucko and Champs Ride Again! (…. side saddle) It was at Tamworth Festival in the late 90’s that Colin Buchannan and Greg Champion last threw their combined Akubras into the same ring for a series of barn-storming, door busting shows. Well, the embargo is now lifted, the rumours are real, the twitters are true – Tamworth Festival 2011, Bucko and Champs are back, a little older and no wiser.

Colin Buchanan – ‘Bucko’ is respected as one of Australian Country Music’s most important songwriters of the last 25 years. Apart from his successful solo career, his songs have been recorded by the likes of Lee Kernaghan, Slim Dusty, Troy Cassar-Daley and many others. 2011 sees the release of ‘The Songwriter Sessions’ – a landmark CD/DVD featuring many of his collaborators.

Greg Champion – ‘Champs’ has weaved a unique path as the AFL’s #1 footy troubadour, radio stalwart (as long-time member of the ‘Coodabeen Champions) and – seriously – the man responsible for a country music career full of songs with heart, depth – and a healthy pinch of mirth.

Their live shows are quirky, always unpredictable and completely unforgettable! Like Roy Rogers and Gene Autrey, like Butch and Sundance, like Calamity Jane and Popeye, this pair of Saddle-polished Cowboys are giving their wild palominos a grease and oil change in readiness for the triumphant ride into Tamworth, six-guns blazing, offering Festival fans some good old-fashioned Gold Medal hootin’ tootin’ electrocutin’ entertainment, country music and fun!

Catch them at RedFest 2011 on Saturday night at the Concert Venue.
