28 June 10 Mr Percival Coming to Town

No, it isn’t the famous pelican from Storm Boy, but this guy can make his music fly! Mr Percival (aka Darren Percival) has been stunning crowds and gathering fans all over Australia for over 20 years. He is long time favourite at festivals like Woodford Folk Festival where night after night he commands standing ovations. Recently returned from the Jimmy Barnes tour where he opened the show and provided backing vocals for Jimmy, Mr Percival is gearing up to make his mark on RedFest and Redland City. While in town, Mr Percival will deliver an upbeat inspirational workshop with young people from Redlands to motivate them with his incredible talent. These workshops will be delivered in partnership with RADF funding supplied by the Qld Government and Redland City Council.

As a musician, Mr Percival travels light – just a microphone and a few electronic pedals with which he records and loops his voice to create melodies, harmonies, basslines, and beats. It is kind of a capella without actually being acapella. Imagine a smooth combination of beatboxing and hip hop sounds that resonate through your soul with sweet voices and you would be getting warm to the effect his music has. As a solo act, Mr Percival can deliver whatever performance suits his environment. At just about every show he will ask the crowd to yell out a word that he can use to build an entire new song and arrangement in front of them. He is to be on your “must see” list for RedFest and is certain to impress all age groups and music lovers from all genres.

Mr Percival will join the incredible line up of artists including Glenn Shorrock, Daryl Braithwaite, John Schumann, Darryl Cotton, Jim Keays and Russell Morris at RedFest on the 3rd 4th and 5th of September at Cleveland Showgrounds. Visit the RedFest website for more information.
